The Valdez Adventure Alliance is committed to spreading the physical and mental health benefits of outdoor activity, by increasing access, and maintaining and improving trails in and around Valdez. It is a constant struggle to keep the boreal rainforest from taking back the trails that generations of Alaskans have struggled to establish and maintain. That is exactly why the Valdez Adventure Alliance spends so much of our time and resources ensuring that these amenities stay accessible. VAA employs a small team of trail builders, brushers, and swampers to do the heavy lifting, but an enormous amount of effort is put forth by our spirited volunteers of all ages as well.

Please join us any time between 9-5 on June 1st at the Shoup Bay Trailhead, located at the end of Egan Street, for National Trails Day work on Shoup Bay Trail. Some kind of work for everyone, from painting to cutting. Volunteer hotdog picnic at 5pm.

Please visit our friends at the American Hiking Society for some more information about trails advocacy and what you can do locally and nationally to support hiking and trails.
